about us

Nestled in the peaceful countryside of Stafford/Fredericksburg, Virginia, The Highland Barn is more than just a picturesque farm—it’s a dream brought to life.

Aubry and Jason have always cherished the rhythm of rural life, where each new year promises fresh beginnings and every season brings its own quiet beauty. For Aubry, the love of country barns began as a teenager in Nebraska, where she would take long drives just to photograph the silhouettes of aging barns against wide skies. Inspired by her family's farming roots and a deep appreciation for honest, agrarian living, she and Jason have created a place where those values thrive.

Set on 45 secluded acres of hay fields and forest, the farm offers sweeping views, rustic charm, and the calming spirit of wide-open spaces. At the heart of it all stands The Highland Barn—built in 1987, now lovingly restored and shared as a backdrop for life’s most beautiful moments.

The name is a tribute to their beloved Scottish Highland cows—Nutmeg, Nettle, and Maverick—who roam the pastures and bring warmth and whimsy to the land. It also honors Aubry’s Scottish heritage and deep connection to the land and its history.

Whether you're visiting for a photography session or to visit the Highland cows, we’re honored to share what we’ve worked so hard to build.

Welcome to the farm. We’re so glad you’re here.
